It is tempting to agree with the speaker that one field of study hardly advances significantly without any the knowledge from other field of study, given the inevitable across and communication among different area of study. However, after further reflection, the author might overstate the importance of the knowledge from other field and overlook another more efficient way to advance one field of study.

In that, sometimes the knowledge brought by outsiders do advance one field of study significantly. One example aptly illustrates this notion is that the birth of radio medicine. Someone brings the radioactivity, which is originally belongs to the chemistry research field, to the medicine field. A fit example is the different professional English class designed for different disciplines. After train of these classes, students are able to read and write the professional literature in English and communicate with leaner in this study field from different area. Compare with waiting for the help from a translator, it is a more efficient and convenient way to study. And, for a person, after the accumulation of the professional knowledge and experience, he or she can distinguish and select out the most useful information through the various knowledge.
